Introduces New Forecasting Service for the Wireless Communication IC
Market
Saratoga, CA - December 7, 2004 – “Average Selling Price of Wireless
Communication ICs will continue to decline into Q1-2005, at a slower pace
than its decline during the first half of 2003,” stated Advanced
Forecasting, Silicon Valley’s quantitative-based forecasting company for
the semiconductor and related industries. Today it introduced a new
forecasting service for the wireless communication market. The service
predicts the turning-points of ASP of certain wireless communication IC,
as well as unit shipments and revenues worldwide. When overlaid on
historical industry data of the last three years, the forecast accurately
predicted all cycles including the recovery from the 2001 recession and
the recent industry softness.
“We are pleased to be able to provide vendors and purchasers of wireless
communication ICs with a quantitative forecasting service that is capable
of predicting the swings of this volatile segment, as well as assessing
the amount of over-heating in the market, which is crucial for determining
the onset of an impending recession,” said Rosa Luis, Director of
Marketing and Sales for Advanced Forecasting. “The service offers
forecasts of ICs used in cellular phones and infrastructure, and can be
customized to specific products.”
The off-the-shelf Wireless Communication IC forecasts provide a 4 to 5
month horizon of Turning-Points in Underlying Demand and in ASP. “This
forecasting service, like the rest of our portfolio, is based on monthly
quantitative models that have predicted 90% of the major turning-points of
the Silicon Cycle without any retroactive modifications during the last 18
years,” added Luis. The forecasts also exhibit strong correlations with
Turning-Points in sales of leading vendors (e.g., CDMA)
