Dr.
Moshe Handelsman
President and Founder
Dr. Handelsman,
founder of Advanced Forecasting, is an expert in data analysis,
econometrics, and forecast modeling. He has been conducting and teaching
market research and forecasting for more than two decades.
Among market
researchers and forecasters, he belongs to the quantitative school of
forecasting, which relies on hard numbers rather than surveys and
opinions as inputs. Dr. Handelsman’s writings have been published in top
quantitative marketing research journals, including the JMR. During the
past twenty years, he has focused on data analysis techniques that
identify the pattern of sales data of industry product-lines and uses
them to increase the accuracy of forecasting future demand for actual
companies.
Dr. Handelsman has
conducted an annual Forecast Seminar at Semicon West for the past 18
years as well as in-house forecasting workshops for companies such as
IBM, Philips, ESI, and Texas Instruments.
A quantitative
forecasting model that he developed in 1986 has accurately predicted the
peaks and troughs of the Silicon Cycle, including the 2001 recession,
the strength and timing of the 2003 upturn, and most recently the
slowdown in the second half of 2004.
Dr. Handelsman holds
an Industrial Engineering (Technion, Haifa), an M.B.A. (Tel-Aviv
University), and a Ph.D. (Market Research and Econometrics from Purdue
University).
