Presentation Title: The
Looming Downward Turning-Point in the IC Market
Advanced Forecasting’s crystal ball is once again indicating that
another recession may be looming on the horizon. While the semiconductor
industry has been on a continuous growth phase now for just over four
years, it may be approaching a similar situation of over-heating that
just preceded the recessions of 1996 and 2001. Advanced Forecasting will
address the question of whether it is time to prepare for another
downturn or just enjoy the ride.

Advanced Forecasting will share several of their forecasts for ICs,
passives, and interconnects, as well as semiconductor equipment and
wafers which affect the semiconductor industry. It will also share its
analysis of the growth of IC unit shipments versus IC revenues that
impact a possible downturn.

Title: Is the End of the Party Looming for the Semiconductor and Related
Industries?
Is the semiconductor industry overheated now?
While the semiconductor industry has been on a continuous growth phase
now for just over four years, it may be approaching a similar situation
of over-heating that just preceded the recessions of 1996 and 2001.
Advanced Forecasting will address the question of whether it is time to
prepare for another downturn or just enjoy the ride.
The
quantitative forecasting house will also share several of its forecasts,
including those for IC revenues, IC units, semiconductor equipment,
materials, and wafers.
Quote:
The
demand for ICs will peak next year, but the decision makers at
semiconductor manufacturers have been very careful with adding capacity
the past few years, noted Moshe Handelsman, founder of Advanced
Forecasting Inc. "That peak won't prompt recession unless they make
the same mistakes they have in the past," he said. "Our opinion is that
next year we won't see a turning point, but it is likely to happen in
2007."
